Terms of Service
Pre-launch draft. Vidskim Pro is not currently represented as a launched paid product. The paid-plan, billing, refund, legal-entity, and jurisdiction terms below are drafts and are not a current offer.
These draft Terms of Service ("Terms") describe the Vidskim browser extension and a possible future Vidskim Pro offering (together, the "Service"), to be operated by {{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}} ("we", "us"). By installing the extension or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Vidskim is a browser extension that displays the transcript of YouTube videos with captions and can generate AI summaries and answer questions about a video. Transcript, translation, and export features are available without an AI subscription. AI features currently include a limited hosted allowance and support for an optional provider API key. A future paid offering has not been announced as live. Vidskim may route requests between supported AI models to balance quality, speed, availability, and cost. Vidskim is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
2. Subscriptions and billing
Vidskim Pro is not currently represented as a purchasable subscription. If a paid plan launches, final prices, renewal terms, payment processor, taxes, receipts, cancellation controls, and buyer terms will be disclosed before checkout and reflected on the Pro page. We do not currently make a merchant-of-record or payment-processor commitment on this draft page.
3. Auto-renewal and cancellation
There is no live Vidskim Pro subscription described by this page. If recurring billing launches, the checkout will disclose renewal and cancellation terms before purchase. The final policy will also explain how to manage a subscription and request any applicable refund. See the current draft Refund Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to infringe copyright or other rights, or in violation of YouTube's or any provider's terms;
- attempt to resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, automate bulk use of, or share paid access to the Service;
- use the Service to process content you are not permitted to access; or
- abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, including automated bulk access outside intended use.
AI features depend on third-party AI providers. You are responsible for how you use AI outputs, which may be inaccurate or incomplete.
5. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that transcripts or AI outputs are accurate, complete, or uninterrupted. AI-generated summaries and answers are assistive only and should be verified against the source video, including the timecoded citations we provide.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, {{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}} and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim.
7. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes to paid features or these Terms will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of {{TODO_JURISDICTION}}, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise.
