Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Vidskim browser extension and the Vidskim Pro subscription (together, the "Service"), operated by {{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}} ("we", "us"). By installing the extension, creating a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Vidskim is a browser extension that displays the transcript of YouTube videos with captions and can generate AI summaries and answer questions about a video. The free tier provides transcript, translation, and export features, and supports using your own AI API key. Vidskim Pro is a paid subscription that adds hosted AI summaries and chat with no API key required, using premium AI models. Vidskim is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
2. Subscriptions and billing
Vidskim Pro is offered on a monthly or annual subscription. Prices are shown at checkout and on our Pro page. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as our merchant of record. This means Paddle sells the subscription to you, handles the payment, charges and remits applicable sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipts. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms. We do not store your full payment card details.
3. Auto-renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time through the billing/management link in your Paddle receipt or by contacting us at [email protected]. When you cancel, your Pro access continues until the end of the paid period, and you will not be charged again. Refunds, where applicable, are governed by our Refund Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to infringe copyright or other rights, or in violation of YouTube's or any provider's terms;
- attempt to resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or circumvent usage limits or credit pools of the Service;
- use the Service to process content you are not permitted to access; or
- abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure, including automated bulk access outside intended use.
AI features depend on third-party AI providers. You are responsible for how you use AI outputs, which may be inaccurate or incomplete.
5. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that transcripts or AI outputs are accurate, complete, or uninterrupted. AI-generated summaries and answers are assistive only and should be verified against the source video, including the timecoded citations we provide.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, {{TODO_LEGAL_NAME}} and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim.
7. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. Material changes to paid features or these Terms will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of {{TODO_JURISDICTION}}, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes, except where mandatory local consumer law provides otherwise.
