Quick fixes first

No transcript on a video? Most often the video simply has no public captions. See why a transcript can be missing and what works.
Panel did not appear after installing? Refresh the YouTube tab once after installation (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R). Extensions cannot attach to pages that were open before install.
Summary or chat asks you to sign in? The first hosted-AI runs need no account. After those are used, sign in free with an email code or Google to continue under the daily free limit. An API key is optional for unlimited direct provider calls. How it works.
Web tool says NO_CAPTIONS or fails? Same captions rule applies; try the video on YouTube directly to confirm captions exist. The transcript generator lists other failure cases under "Honest limitations".
