Read, search, copy, translate when an appropriate track is available, and export captions beside the YouTube player.
Initial summary and chat requests work without an API key. Google sign-in extends the daily free allowance; limits and availability apply.
Power users can add an OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or OpenRouter key for direct provider calls.
What a future paid upgrade may address
The product team is evaluating a paid hosted-AI upgrade for people who do not want to manage provider keys. Features, limits, pricing, billing provider, availability, and launch timing remain subject to verification.
Vidskim only works with videos whose captions are available today. Captionless audio transcription is not part of the current published promise.
